Aircraft Carrying US Defense Secretary Required to Touch Down in UK Due to Fracture in Cockpit Window
A plane transporting the US defense secretary was required to make an emergency landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday following a fracture was identified in the plane's windshield, according to an official announcement which stated that the secretary was unharmed.
"The plane touched down in accordance with standard procedures and all individuals on the flight, including Secretary Hegseth, is unharmed," an official representative said in a online announcement.
Hegseth was returning from a short visit to the Belgian capital during the flight.
This event isn't the initial instance that a US military aircraft carrying a high-ranking official has experienced equipment failures.
In a previous incident this year, a US Air Force plane ferrying Marco Rubio to the city in Germany was forced to turn back to Washington DC after suffering a mechanical fault.
