Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
