Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a former doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
