More than 36,000 individuals have evacuated from Sudan's Kordofan region eastern sector of Darfur beginning Saturday, according to the UN's migration agency.

The strategic central area between the country's Darfur regions and the Khartoum-Riverine region has over recent weeks become the recent fighting area in the 24-month civil conflict between the Sudanese army and the militia group.

Significant Displacement Statistics

An calculated 36,825 people fled five areas in North Kordofan state between 26 October and 31 October, as reported by the International Organization for Migration.

The civilians, most on foot, traveled to Tawila, a town west of El Fasher that is currently sheltering in excess of 652,000 refugees.

Increased Troop Concentration

Residents of North Kordofan on Monday reported a significant increase in both RSF and army concentration across towns and villages throughout the state.

Both military groups are competing for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan provincial capital and a critical supply and command base that joins Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have converged on the Bara front here," stated an RSF member in a recently circulated video declaration.

Regional Residents Detail Safety Fears

A local inhabitant of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, described that the quantity of RSF vehicles had grown significantly since the group's capture of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, concerned about clashes," the local stated.

Another resident, who requested anonymity for safety concerns, also indicated that "there has been a substantial growth in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the last fourteen days.

World Concerns and Appeals

A senior UN official sounded warnings last week about "extensive crimes" and "ethnically motivated reprisals" by RSF in Bara.

The diplomat cautioned about patterns comparable to patterns in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been alleged to commit mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against certain racial groups.

The spiritual head on Sunday called for an immediate ceasefire and the opening of aid passageways in Sudan, saying that attacks on civilians and impediments to humanitarian aid "are causing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's official envoy to Egypt on Sunday alleged RSF of carrying out war crimes in El Fasher and stated that the Sudanese government would not engage with the militia organization.

The representative further encouraged the world nations to designate the group as a terrorist organisation.
