Ten individuals found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced charges of disseminating untruths regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A circulating false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's identity.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she taught at his lycée.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
