Torrential Rains Exacerbate Circumstances for Evacuated Gazans, Agencies Caution
Intense storms over the recent period have compounded the precarious living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of displaced residents in the Gaza Strip, as reported by humanitarian organizations.
"Awful" Weather Poses Serious Threats
A representative described the weather overnight as "awful", with downpours so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.
"These conditions was truly horrendous for the people. The storms were so intense... And the winds were so strong," noted the representative.
Authorities voice significant concern that young ones residing in tents in damp attire will succumb to hypothermia and additional sicknesses.
Fatalities and Significant Damage
Medical officials have reported that one baby has passed away from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have died in structural failures triggered by the severe weather.
Other reports suggest a higher fatality count. Officials reported that numerous homes had totally fallen and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

Relief Operations Considered Insufficient
Agencies have increased distribution of tarpaulins, warm covers and garments after the ceasefire began, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid getting in.
"Agencies are striving constantly to deliver that aid and to hand it out, but the scale of the requirements is so vast that we are faced with many thousands of families and minors who are genuinely suffering nightly," cautioned one official.
Ongoing Challenges and Agreement Provisions
The next stage of the truce involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the pullback of military forces, and other conditions.
Aid groups have underscored the necessity for "expanded and ongoing relief to respond to urgent and future needs."
The hostilities was sparked by an offensive in late 2023. Later actions have resulted in a substantial number of casualties in the region, as per medical data.
