Tributes Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has passed that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without joy".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a distinct piece, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A court order placed a embargo on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the killings, public individuals offered divergent reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering controversial claims that were broadly criticized by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the critics recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan characterized the statements as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an adviser could have intervened when the impulse to comment on the death was made.
